Peel, place, press.

Peeling the backing from a gold strip on a Little Golden Book spine
  1. Clean

Brush off dust and trim loose threads or flaking foil, so the strip sits flat on a clean, dry spine.

  2. Place

The backing comes off in two pieces. Peel one half, line the strip up along the spine and press it down, then peel the other half.

  3. Press

Rub the whole strip down firmly, edges first, and fold the ends over the top and bottom of the spine.

Loose hinge or torn page? Clear stretchable tape holds it without hiding the artwork. Taller book than a strip? Use cloth tape from the roll.

Questions, answered.

Does it match the original gold spine?

Close, not identical. It is gold foil with a black printed pattern, not a copy of any one book's spine art, so it blends in rather than disappears.

How big are the strips?

Each strip is 1" x 8-3/8" with a permanent adhesive, 25 strips to a pack. For a taller book, use cloth tape cut from the roll.

Does it come on a roll?

Gold-Book Repair Tape comes as strips, 25 per pack. Cloth and clear tape come on 15-yard rolls.

How do I get it to stay put?

Start with a clean, dry spine: brush off dust and trim anything loose. Then rub the strip down firmly, edges first.

Can I use it in a junk journal?

Yes. Junk journal makers use it to keep or restore the golden spine, and use cloth tape to bind new pages.

What if it isn't right?

Unused items can be returned within 30 days.

One strip, one more story time.
